Today, my heart is heavy as I join my IFP comrades in mourning the passing of a great leader, a dedicated servant of the people, and a true son of the soil—Ubaba uSenzo Mfayela, uMchoboza, ntozakuthi.
His departure has left a deep void, not only in the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) but in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.
Mchoboza was more than a politician; he was a man of integrity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the people of South Africa. His journey was never about self-enrichment or personal gain—it was about service. From his days as a student activist at the University of Fort Hare, where he fearlessly stood up for what was right, to his time as a leader within the IFP, he was a beacon of hope and a fighter for justice.
As an IFP member, I am proud to stand on the foundation built by great men like Sobhashi. He was not just a leader; he was a mentor, a guide, and an example of what true leadership looks like.
He understood the struggles of our people, the challenges we face, and the dreams we hold for a better tomorrow. He worked tirelessly to uplift communities, ensuring that our people’s voices were heard in the corridors of power.
Mdokhulayo’s contributions to the IFP and to South Africa cannot be overstated. He served in the National Assembly with distinction, and even when he stepped away from frontline politics, he continued to make a difference in the business world and through the Buthelezi Foundation.
His commitment to economic empowerment and the advancement of black business was yet another testament to his vision for a prosperous South Africa.
As we prepare for the upcoming local government elections, we do so with the knowledge that Mchoboza will be walking with us in spirit. He joins the ranks of our greatest ancestors, standing alongside the one and only Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and the esteemed Professor Bhengu.
These giants paved the way for us, and even in their passing, they remain our guiding light. They remind us that leadership is about service, that integrity must never be compromised, and that the IFP's mission must continue.
Ziyohamba izinsizwa, kuyosala izibongo. The names of great warriors never die, and Mchoboza’s name will forever be spoken in the same breath as the legends who built this movement. We will carry his spirit into every campaign, every rally, and every ballot box.
His legacy will not fade—it will be the fire that fuels us as we fight for the people, for good governance, and for a future where dignity and prosperity belong to all.
To Mchoboza’s family, friends, and comrades, I extend my deepest condolences. I pray for strength and comfort in this time of loss. And to my fellow IFP members, let us honor him by continuing his work, by standing firm in our principles, and by serving our people with the same dedication and humility that he did.
Rest in power, Mchoboza. Your journey on this earth may have ended, but your legacy will never fade.
Lala kahle, Qabagudlela. 🕊️
